UF Health – Davis Cancer Pavilion
The Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences has a long-standing and strong research and clinical presence in the Davis Cancer Center (DCC) Department of Radiation Oncology located in the Medical Plaza (beside UF Health). There, faculty and clinicians from our Department work as part of a large multi-disciplinary team, evaluating and treating patients with Head and Neck cancer with dysphagia as a result of their cancer or their cancer therapies. SLPs at the DCC attend a weekly Head and Neck Tumor Board with Otolaryngologists, Medical Oncologist, Radiation Oncologists, Radiologists and Pathologists to determine a multidisciplinary approach for patients with this diagnosis. SLPs evaluate and treat dysphagia, dysarthria and even aphasia, which may occur as a result of their undergoing surgical resection, radiation and/or chemotherapy for their cancers.
