UF Health Davis Cancer Pavilion
The Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences has a long-standing and strong research and clinical presence in the UF Health Radiation Oncology – Davis Cancer Pavilion located in the Medical Plaza (beside UF Health). There, faculty and clinicians from our Department work as part of a large multi-disciplinary team, evaluating and treating patients with Head and Neck cancer with dysphagia as a result of their cancer or their cancer therapies. SLPs at the DCC attend a weekly Head and Neck Tumor Board with Otolaryngologists, Medical Oncologist, Radiation Oncologists, Radiologists and Pathologists to determine a multidisciplinary approach for patients with this diagnosis. SLPs evaluate and treat dysphagia, dysarthria and even aphasia, which may occur as a result of their undergoing surgical resection, radiation and/or chemotherapy for their cancers.
