Ms. Julie Hicks is a clinical Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in adult medical speech-language pathology. She is the primary clinician at the UF Center for Movement Disorders and Neurorestoration, where she specializes in outpatient care of persons with progressive neurogenic movement disorders. Her clinical interests include evaluation and treatment of speech, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing dysfunction in persons with movement disorders (Parkinson’s disease, Atypical Parkinsonism, Dystonia, Essential Tremor, Ataxia, and Huntington’s disease). She also practices in acute care settings at UF Health Shands Hospital managing adult inpatients with a variety of diseases associated with communicative and swallowing disorders (e.g. stroke, head/neck cancer, dementia, trauma, pulmonary disease, etc.). She is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). Ms. Hicks has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics and Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and a Master of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Florida. She completed her clinical fellowship at UF Health and subsequently joined the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences in November 2015 as clinical faculty.
