Michael A. Crary,Ph.D, FASHA
Professor
Dr. Crary is a professor of Speech-Language Pathology in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of Florida Health Science Center. He served as Department Chair from 1995 – 2001. Currently, he is the Director of the Florida Dysphagia Institute, a Type III Center at the Health Science Center. Dr. Crary specializes in disorders of swallowing in adults, and motor speech disorders in children. He has published and lectured extensively, including internationally on these topics.
Dr. Crary’s clinical achievements were recognized in 1994 with the Florida Speech-Language and Hearing Association’s Clinical Achievement Award, and in 1995 with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s Outstanding Clinical Achievement Award. In 1998 he was recognized as a Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. He serves on the professional advisory board of the Childhood Apraxia of Speech Society of North America, and is a member of the Dysphagia Research Society. At present, Dr. Crary is funded to conduct clinical research in the area of swallowing rehabilitation and remains active in patient care. He joined the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences in 1984.
