AuD Students Participate in IONM Observation

Dr. Krista Fitzgerald has successfully developed an affiliation with UF Health and their intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) in-house group. This new relationship will allow second and third year Au.D. students to observe IONM in the operating room and expand their knowledge in electrophysiology and scope of practice as an audiologist. Dr. Fitzgerald states, “The future is bright for audiologists becoming more involved in intraoperative neuromonitoring. This new relationship will allow our current and future Au.D.students to obtain observation hours in IONM. We have strong hopes on creating a clinical rotation specific to IONM. I am excited for this unique addition to our program!” “Seen in this photo is Dr. Krista Fitzgerald and the second and third year Au.D. students during O.R. orientation at the UF Health Heart and Vascular Tower as they embark on including IONM as an opportunity for students within their Au.D.
