Speech Processing and Executive Control in Spanish-English Bilinguals

Study Description

The purpose of this study is to look into speech processing in Spanish-English bilingual speakers to expand on what we know about bilingualism and general cognition.

During the study you will be involved in a game-like description task, taking turn between listening to someone’s descriptions on image objects and describing some of the other image objects that you see on a computer screen. Your descriptions of the objects will be recorded. In addition to the description task, you will be asked to complete a language history questionnaire and complete two language proficiency tasks.

There will be no monetary compensation but your participation can count for up to 2 hours in course credit.

Participant Requirements

Age: 18-35 years old. Language: Learned English and Spanish simultaneously or learned Spanish first and English second by the age of 12. Have no hearing or language related issues.

Duration of Experiment

The study will be one session of approximately 1.5 hours.
