Michela Mir, a doctoral candidate in the Rehabilitation Science program, received the student award for her presentation at the annual meeting of ISARP (International Society for the Advancement of Respiratory Psychophysiology) in October 2021. Her presentation was entitled, “Respiratory sensation decline in Parkinson’s disease: Preliminary longitudinal findings”. The mission of ISARP is to promote and advance knowledge of the interrelationships between psychological and physiological aspects of respiration in research and application. Michela has been a member of ISARP and has attended the meetings since joining the Upper Airway Dysfunction Lab with Dr. Karen Wheeler-Hegland.
