On Saturday, July 9th, graduate students in audiology and speech pathology joined local organization, GNV Bridge, and Dr. Laurie Gauger’s UF Reading Disabilities Program to provide hearing, speech, language, and reading screenings to local children. Families were also provided resources and education on navigating school-based services, information on community-based sites for support, and counseling in communication disorders. Graduate students also engaged the children in social and reading activities to promote positive relationships and fun in between screenings and parent education. The partnership with UF SLHS and GNV Bridge hopes to continue to build in order to support local children and families with communication needs.
