BHS-CSD student Kylie Fernandez participated in a Therapy Abroad program in Belize over the summer

Kylie Fernandez

Kylie Fernandez, CSD Junior and incoming NSSLHA President, recently traveled to San Ignacio, Belize to participate in a speech and hearing enrichment trip hosted by Therapy Abroad. Guided by a Speech-Language Pathologist, Kylie learned how to use an audiometer, administer therapy, and record data. She then hosted a 4-day therapy camp for local children with speech and language disorders. The Therapy Abroad team also conducted language and hearing screenings for children in the community. This cross-cultural experience will inform Kylie’s future academic studies, as well as her research project in the Speech Development Lab.
